How to Evaluate Your Skin
By admin | June 21, 2008
To maintain good skin condition, you have to be aware of how your skin behaves at a given time. The general description of your skin is called skin type. There are four common skin types, these are the following:
Normal – characterized by small pores, firmness, few blemishes, and generally smooth skin.
Dry – characterized by few blemishes and blackheads, fine pores, and lack of natural oils.
Oily – characterized by enlarged pores, recurring blackheads, and shiny skin.
Combination – characterized by oily chin, nose and forehead but normal to dry around the cheeks and throat.
Other types of skin include sun damaged, sensitive, blemish-prone, and mature. If you know your skin type, it will help you in choosing the skincare products that are compatible to your skin.
To evaluate the condition of your skin – first, wait between 4-5 hours after washing it because this will allow your skin to resume its normal activity. Take note to do this in a day when you did not put on any creams or did not wear any make-up. Then, take a facial tissue pressing it all over your face. If you see blotches, you have oily skin; if you feel tight and flaky, you have dry skin; and if you observe both oily and dry conditions, then you have combination skin. Perform this skin assessment twice a year to learn about the changes in your skin. GP
